The ASCC High Performance Driving School for 2026 will be held during the long weekend on Sunday May 17th and Monday May 18th, 2025. This school is open to anyone who wants to learn track safety and the proper driving techniques to qualify for a Lapping and/or Time Attack license for the 2026 season. A lapping license is required to attend any ARMS lapping event, and a Time Attack License is required for the 2026-ARMS time attack events. A time attack license qualifies for both events.

1. ABOUT THE SCHOOL

The High-Performance Driving School will take place starting with an evening classroom session on Sunday May 17th followed by an all-day track session at Atlantic Motorsport Park on Monday May 18th. This course consists of a classroom session instructing students on the theory and physics of high-performance driving as well as track safety. The following day consists entirely of on-track activities with small groups of students paired to experienced instructors.

We have approximately 30 spots available subject to instructor availability. If we have to reduce student numbers due to instructor availability, affected people will be informed asap and receive a full refund. Affected students will be placed on the waitlist for the first available school they can attend. Previously approved HPDS registrants and people on the waitlist who were unable to attend a previous school have priority for registration in 2026.

Lunch will be provided and is included with your registration fee. We will have lots of water available on site. If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know when you contact us.

2. COST

The school will cost $350. If signed off by an instructor at the end of the school, this also includes a lapping license. There is a small extra cost for a time attack license that is the responsibility of the student if they wish to upgrade to that. To attend the HPDS you must be a member of an ARMS affiliated club. Cost is $30 to purchase a club membership (details on clubs are included below). For planning or budgeting purposes it is $380 all in including a club membership if you dont already have one.

Full payment for the school will be due by May 9th. If you don’t pay by this date, the next person on the waiting list will be contacted.

3. WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

A safe street or track vehicle. If your street vehicle can pass MVI it should be ok for the on-track sessions. Vehicles will be inspected for suitability (Brakes, Tires, etc.) prior to the session. It is highly recommended that you flush/bleed brake fluid before the event and do not use pads at less than 50% thickness. Unsafe or cars not properly prepared will not be permitted on the track. Cars must be emptied of any loose items, decorations, and floor mats, this includes the trunk. You will be maneuvering your vehicle at increased speeds and loose items will move around your vehicle.

Students with the help of instructors will be asked to complete a tech inspection checklist prior to going on course. This will be done on the morning of the track day.

Convertible vehicles are NOT permitted without adequate rollover protection; factory rollover protection or hoops are not enough. Unfortunately, this also includes power hardtop vehicles. There are many approved bolt-in solutions, both roll bars and cages, if unsure please contact the organizers with any questions regarding vehicle suitability.

4. HELMET

A Snell 2015M or newer ‘M’ rated helmet is acceptable, provided the car is not equipped with a roll cage or racing slicks. Cars with cages and/or slicks will require a Snell 2015 or newer ‘SA’ rated helmet. ‘DOT’ helmets are not approved. If you have an SFI, ECE, or FIA rated helmet it may qualify, please ask. (If purchasing a new helmet make sure it is at minimum Snell 2020, a Snell 2025 will give you the most life before needing replacement)

Current Helmet Regulations

If you do not have access to a helmet, please contact us, loaner helmets can be arranged with advance notice. ASCC has a limited number of open face loaner helmets, so it is first come, first serve.
