ASCC to host the 2009 ASN Canada FIA Solosprint Championship!

SoloSprint The Atlantic Sports Car Club (est. 1955) is pleased to announce that it has been selected to host the 2009 ASN Canada FIA Canadian Solosprint Championships! This event will take place in September at Atlantic Motorsports Park, full details will be available as they are arranged.

Mr. Bill Anwyll has been named Chair of the 2009 ASN Canada FIA Canadian Solosprint Championship Organizing Committee. Correspondence, queries and offers of assistance should be relayed through Bill at csc@ascc.ca for review/relaying to the applicable committee member.

August 16th SoloSprint CANCELLED! Super Lapping Session!

SoloSprint Due to insufficient registrations the ASCC SoloSprint scheduled for August 16th has been CANCELLED. Refunds to those who have pre-registered can be processed or the amount credited to a future ASCC Event.

In place of the SoloSprint a Super-Lapping Session will be held from 10am - 5pm at a cost of $80. Those with an ARMS lapping, SoloSprint or race license can attend.

The ASCC AutoSlalom at Atlantic Motorsport Park scheduled for August 17th will proceed as planned!

ASCC High Performance Driving School, CANCELLED

SoloSprint 2008 ASCC HIGH PERFORMANCE DRIVING SCHOOLS

THIS SCHOOL HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF REGISTRATIONS

On August 22nd and 23rd ASCC will be providing its third High Performance Driving school of the year! This school, consisting of an evening classroom session on Friday the 22nd and a full day of on-track instruction on Saturday, August 23rd, will qualify participants for their full ARMS Lapping (Open track sessions) and Solo Sprint (Single car, time competition) licenses!

The cost of the course is $150 which includes both sessions as well as the fees for the ARMS Lapping/SoloSprint licenses at the completion of the session. Licenses are required for participation in Lapping and SoloSprint sessions held throughout the year.

A safe street vehicle is all thats required for this school. Vehicles will be inspected for suitability prior to on-track sessions. Cars must be free of loose objects (Interior, trunk and engine bay) and have a suspension in good condition (Ball joints, wheel bearings, bushings, struts). Brakes should be of suitable condition with lots of material left and tires should be in reasonable condition.

A helmet meeting ARMS/ASN Solo requirements is required for the on-track session. Loaner helmets can be made available if arranged in advance. The following helmet ratings are permissable:

FIA 8860-2004
Snell 2000 M, SA or 2005 M, SA
SFI Foundation 31.1A or 31.2A
British Standards Institution BS 6658-85 type A/FR

Cars equipped with roll cages require an SA rated helmet, motorcycle helmets will not be acceptable.

Schedule

Friday, August 22nd
6:00pm-9:00pm : Mandatory classroom session, location will be announced shortly.

Saturday, August 23rd
8:30am : Students arrive at Atlantic Motorsport Park (Click here for directions.) and Cars are prepared for technical safety inspection
9:00am : Course walk-around begins
10:00am : On-track sessions begin
12:00pm : Lunch (Provided for Students/Instructors/Marshals, available for purchase by spectators)
1:00pm : On-track sessions resume
5:00pm : Sessions end

To register for the HPDS, email your name, address and phone number to race@ascc.ca and specify the following information:

Name
Phone Number
Type of vehicle used for the school
Previous experience, if any

A $50.00 deposit is required to reserve your entry. A cheque payable to ASCC can be mailed to ASCC, Box 31120, Halifax NS, B3K 5Y1, ATT Debbie Miller. Deposits or full payments can also be made via PayPal to paypal@ascc.ca by AUGUST 17th! Deposits or payments after this date may not guarantee a position! Cancellations less than one week prior to the event will result in a forfeit of the deposit. Deposits may be transferred/exchanged as long as they are clearly communicated to the organizers. In special cases deferrals to alternate school dates may be arranged.

Participation in any ARMS School requires membership in an ARMS-sanctioned club. Please make arrangements in advance to secure your memberships. (For ASCC Memberships contact membership@ascc.ca)

For those interested in obtaining their ARMS Competitive Race License special arrangements can be made for race-specific, more focused instruction at the school. Contact me for more details if you're interested.

ASCC SoloSprint #2, July 28th, 2007!

SoloSprint ASCC will be conducting its second Solo Sprint of the season on July 28th, 2007! Come out and test your mettle against the track and your fellow competitors!

ASCC SoloSprint School New Date! June 2nd!

SoloSprint For those who attended the recent water-fest that was the attempted SoloSprint school the new re-scheduled date is June 2nd, 2007! Spots will be available first to those who were registered for the cancelled school and any remaining spots on a first come, first served basis. (Because of re-scheduling issues those who weren't registered for the last school who wish to attend will be required to have previous instruction experience to attend. (SoloSprint, Race, BMW school etc)

Only the track portion of the school will be held, the classroom portion will not be repeated. Students are requested to be at the track at 8am on June 2nd.
